How to play

Connect an Atlantic state to a Pacific state — or the other way around — with the 24 cards in your deck.

  1. Start on a coast. Choose a card marked COAST. Gulf-only states don't count.
  2. Follow the borders. Click a neighboring card to extend your route. Click a played card in your hand or on the map to remove it and everything after it.
  3. Reach the other coast. The game ends automatically. Cards are worth 1 point. Gold hard cards earn a +2 bonus, for 3 points total.

Hard cards appear in fewer than 20% of this deal's winning routes, but at least one. Values are calculated before play and stay fixed for the game.

Each invalid card selection deducts that card's assigned value, even after a hint. Repeated mistakes deduct points again. Undoing cards is free. Scores can go negative.

Hint highlights the next card, or a card to remove if the route is blocked. After using Hint, the next card you add scores 0, even if you choose a different card. That card stays at 0 if removed and replayed.

Stay ahead of the moving line. Each added card speeds it up; Hint and invalid cards speed it up more, by the same amount. Your furthest-forward state pulses red when the line reaches it. If the line passes it, the game ends and a new game starts. The line pauses while the page is hidden. Undo does not rewind it.

Every coastal start in a new game is solvable. Borders include AZ–CO, NM–UT, MI–MN and NY–RI.
